Ibidem: An old poem I wrote - with current meaning

We turn around and look at others, pointing fingers and laughing.
Time continues and those we laughed at grow an blossom than look back.
Why do we think that our past remains still?
Why do we not consider our actions and the consequences inherent?
What makes us do the things we do to others?
Why do we continue to fight when fighting doesn't help?
The day comes when those we have oppressed, and those we have stepped on will rise.
They will stand up and say, no more.
Every battle, every little skirmish leads up to the time when we will fall.
When we fall the world will shake, like a room when the obese fall down.
We have become complacent, we have become fat and lazy.
Our pride is our downfall, for we believe we are right no matter the cost.
Will we be ready to live when there is no longer a place to go?
Are we ready to survive, because our house is now a hole?
Our neighbors look and see the grass is green, they see the house is bigger here.
What happens when finally the neighbors want for a better house becomes to much?
Should we not become as we once were, lone, strong, and independent?
Or is it vital we remain a force for our morals, in a neighborhood that doesn't want them?
Think fellow friends and neighbors.
Think about what we are losing even as we step forward to take another apple, off the tree that is dying.
